ABOUT

an experimental field of convergent representations of ToneThread's multi-axis tonal framework.

every instrument here is the same idea, cut a different way. each one takes ToneThread's multi-axis framework and lets it converge into something you can both see and hear at once. not a diagram of the framework, a place to stand inside it.

we think of it as watching tone travel. sound leaves its source and crosses everything unseen between it and you before it finally arrives as something an eye can read and an ear can hold. these veils are that journey made visible: the same signal, reaching two senses, converging on one moment.

and because no two people stand in the same place, no two people receive it the same way. the representation is fixed; the reception never is. what you notice, what you miss, what a colour or a pulse means to you, that difference is not a flaw in the work. it is the point.

the field, by movement
I · The First Field
the originals
ToneThread's multi-axis framework in its rawest form. each axis wired straight into sound and light, no stakes, no end. press one and let it move around you.
II · The Return
heard again
the same four, heard again: lower, deeper, more room around them. think of it as the remix: same DNA, different gravity.
III · Prism Proper
the namesake
one signal split into colour and tone, then split again, until the interference becomes something you can see. the trippiest corner of the collection.
IV · SymbioTick
the dedicated piece
a constellation of binary stars, one per axis of the multi-axis framework, orbiting as one system, sometimes merging, sometimes drifting. no dials to twist; it listens to your attention and tunes itself. our purest "tone as a living field."
V · The Arcade
the field at play
our take on a favourite from the 80's, run through the same engine. here the multi-axis framework doesn't just play, it attacks. your starburst auto-fires and knocks out the shapes descending from above.(work in progress: expect a few bugs.)
VI · The Living Field
the veil that watches back
reads room weather through camera and sound. it rewards quiet over motion. go still and the low end softens into held calm. a slow pulse turns dread without resolving it away. a living paradox. don't panic, be still.
VII · In Residence
the incubator
names placed, instruments still forming. check back, these grow.
Dark Matter Explained +

here's a different spin on ToneThread mechanics. everything in here runs on the same multi-axis principles as SpectralBinary, the framework that treats tone not as one slider but as a set of independent axes. the move we made: plug those axes into audio and visuals at once, so the same value you hear as warmth or tension you also see as colour, motion, and light. trippy effects, by design.

why "dark matter"? because most of what carries a tone to you is invisible. sound leaves its source and crosses everything unseen between it and you (the medium, the room, the distance) before it ever reaches an eye or an ear. these fields make that invisible passage something you can watch and hear converge in a single moment.

and the part we like best: the representation is fixed, but no two people receive it the same way. what one person reads as calm, another reads as tension; what feels fast to you feels slow to the person beside you. so each field doubles as a small mirror: the same signal, quietly measuring how you take tone in.

(the deeper machinery stays under the hood, but that's the gist.)
